iXL@Ecology & Outdoor Learning Program

Do you love learning outdoors?

This subject aims to give students opportunities to explore the natural world in a hands-on practical approach. This area of excellence will allow students to work with community partners such as, Landcare, Lendlease, Wildcare Australia, Albert Valley Wilderness Society, Natura Pacific and the Queensland University of Technology. Students in the Ecology and Outdoor Learning Academy will engage the outdoor environment to develop reflective and inquisitive thinking along with problem-solving approaches in ‘real life’ situations.

Students will work as part of team to learn and practice skills that are relevant across a variety of industries through a ‘hands-on’ approach to learning. Students will learn the necessary skills to be competent in outdoor recreation environments, camping and outdoor activities.

Students will participate in land management and environmental sustainability projects in our college and wider community. This program will challenge students to use high-level critical thinking and problem solving skills while practicing resilience and adaptability in a variety of settings.

If learning outdoors is an interest for your child/ren, please see our iXL Academy Program brochure to check your eligibility and apply online using our Ecology and Outdoor Learning Application.
