I am honoured to be appointed Foundation Principal of Yarrabilba's first secondary school and look forward to working closely with the community to make our college the 'secondary school of choice' for all families in Yarrabilba and surrounds.

Yarrabilba State Secondary College is a dynamic, future-focused learning community, committed to empowering all our students to succeed. At Yarrabilba State Secondary College, we have chosen to deliver the Australian Curriculum in a non-traditional way. It is our belief that a non-traditional teaching and learning model better prepares diverse learners for 21st Century learning and life. By combining a model of project-based learning with entrepreneurship, outdoor and hands-on learning we hope to produce graduates who go on to live lives of choice, not lives of chance.
The next generation is growing up in a world very different from the one we have known. They will go on to pursue as yet unimagined careers and will face unprecedented opportunities and challenges. In preparing our young people to navigate and shape our complex and changing world, we have re-imagined our approaches to teaching and learning. At our College, we recognise not only the importance of achieving academic excellence, but also supporting and challenging young people's opinions, promoting independence, understanding both local and global diversity, and nurturing a culture of kindness, compassion and resilience.

We know that well-being is the oil of learning and we unashamedly consider the wellbeing of our students as equally important and inextricably linked to their academic success.

As your College Principal, I commit to being open, supportive, respectful, fair and trustworthy. Along with my staff, I will promote an inclusive learning community, welcoming students and families from all backgrounds, identities and abilities. I also commit to collaborating with you as partners in your child/ren's learning and to high expectations of myself, my staff, my students and my community. My staff and I will do 'whatever it takes' to ensure every student in our learning community realises their potential.
Having worked in state education for 35 years, I have devoted my career to the education and wellbeing of young people and believe it is an honour and a privilege to be trusted with the education of our future generations. I am incredibly proud to be leading a passionate and committed team and to be partnering with parents/carers and the community to provide your child with relevant, challenging and engaging learning experiences to ensure they go on to lead successful and fulfilling lives.
